aching body aching heart

My back aches, it aches almost in an alarming degree. In the middle of Mimi's workshop, I hurt so much that I needed to ask about possible quick cures. Pollyanna suggested that I go have a foot massage. I ended up going for a 1 1/2 hour session of a full body massage as the muscle in my back is entirely tensed up. The masseuse could see through me, that I was VERY tired, that I was in a constant state of tiredness. He said that 3 sessions would bring my muscle back to its normal condition. He performed deep tissue massage on me, my body ached even more as the massage was being done. But I know the tensed up muscle was being smoothed out. I am concerned with my general state of health due to overwhelmingly long hours in front of the computer. I need to do something to change this pattern of body abuse.

I stopped at the mail box to pick up today's mail on the way home, only to find the box empty. A happy feeling in the heart, you are home, you got home before me! You are home. I stepped into my car to drive up the cul-de-sac for home, for you. The garage door rolled up on command, and there was no car in the garage. Of course it is Veteran's Day. The post office is not open, postmen don't work today. I will get into the house, wait for you to come home with Billy.

坐下來，寫出來，讓夢想成真！

觀察、寫下來、說出來、與人分享、與人討論。說做就做，給具體的、可行的事情做。

今天在搜尋古文學的youtube影片的時候，赫然看到這樣一個標題：溝通基本功在背“古文觀止”，孫老師在片中叫人每天念一篇古文觀止的文章5遍，而且要唸出聲的念。不必求理解，就念。原因是古文觀止的文字語言，有長有短，跟說話一樣，出聲念文章就得咬文嚼字，念久了，說話就會流利，順暢。

我同時看了他的幾集精彩片斷，喜歡的是他總是舉出“可行的方案”，讓人一步步地去實踐，其中幾個我會去試試的是

1。 準備任何的說話，先寫出來，在腦子裡想，和寫出來效果不一樣。寫的過程就是一種對思緒的整理。寫出來了，就已經整理過一次了。再練習，就更熟悉了。

2。寫出剛剛在路上發生的三件事情、看到的三個東西

3。一副撲克牌，三分之一的牌寫名詞，三分之一的寫動詞，另外三分之一的寫形容詞，形容詞得一般是褒詞，一半是貶詞。抽牌練說話，抽到一張，用那張上面的文字給個情境，造個句子，再問個問題，然後作答。。。

每天寫個幾分鐘的文章。想了那麼多年，總該付諸行動了。

题目是John和Iris的一位作家朋友所写的一本书的书名。我应该去买来看。今天我再回到这个当草稿的部落格，决心把没发表的都发表，也算是对自己的督促。

与君回华大校园

以下是至少两年多前写的。今天是2014年7月20号

也不知道有多久了，我和保罗今天又一起回华大校园去听演讲。今天的话题是中国会改变世界吗？由纽约时报国际新闻组组长主讲。讲者的名字是Joseph Kahn.此人在中国住了挺长一段时间。他的观点和观察很能多面呈现中国现代的问题和优势。基本上他的立场是乐观的。我们也乐观其成。中国政府果真能够照顾到百姓的需求和生命的尊严，对中国对世界都是很好的。

今天的话题中较让我注意的是以下几点：

1。 苹果电脑首席执行长Steve Jobs的死，引起许多中国网民讨论中国能容得下像Steve Jobs这样一位敢做的创意天才吗，答案是否定的。因为中国人觉得这样的天才一定早就被政府打压掉了。

2。美国国会的瘫痪无能做事，是美国把世界领导国地位拱手让给中国的最大助力。

3。纽约市筹划如何在第二街筑一段3英里的地铁线，已经谈了很久，花了很多钱，可是在更短的期间内，武汉筑了一百四十多英里的捷运网。花的钱可能跟纽约为尚未筑的三英里地铁所花的钱一样多。

4。中国和美国的互相依赖的关系，前所未有，中国是世界第一大生产国，美国是世界第一大消费国，如果生产和消费在同一个国家，这是很好的现象，但是中国和美国是不同的两个国家，这种唇寒齿亡的相关关系，是两个国家必须正视的问题。

5。不同于美国在世界上运作的模式是要求互通国家实行民主，尊重人权等，中国不干涉也不管互通国家的政治意识，人权纪录，只要有交易可以做就做，中国只要他国尊敬其领导国的地位，无他求。

6。中国政府应该担心一代很会用科技的网民。

7。北京已不怎么下雨了。中国政府尝试把长江水引到黄河流域的工作，面临重大困难，污染，水质等等问题很多，中国也尝试海水去盐的方法给北方带来水源。

8。创意仍然是美国的一大优势。

A Full Fruitful Day

Andie wanted to have extra envelopes just in case, and also for keep sake. I pasted the flap and watched Michael Clayton at the same time. It has been a long time since I took time to watch a movie. Prior to that, I also did my toe nails. Don't know if the proxide is working or not, but I feel better doing something for the whitening on the left big toe nail. Another rare treat on self pampering. It has gotten that the only time for such "private time" is when I walk Billy. A time that I used to listen to audio books on my iPod. Don't do that any more, I find it important to have time to not feeding my mind with external stuff... taking the time to breath the air, feel the sea breeze on my face, look at the trees, the flowers, the gleaming Puget Sound water under the sunlight with snow capped mountain over the horizon, listen to the birds and stopping to say hello and talk to people.

Met Heather at Sea Garden and had our usual crab with ginger and green onion and pea vine for lunch. Guy next table was having wonton soup and it looked absolutely delicious, so I also ordered a wonton soup. Heather has been doing wonderful work for Microsoft India. We chatted about each other's work and life and decided that we need and want to meet more often to share and discuss reflections from our respective lives and work.

Meitsu, Adam and Betty came to talk about the FLAP grant content and what to expect. Then Bider Chinese' Jianmin Chen came over to demo his product, language software. Wonderful to be teaching Chinese at this juncture of history: so much support, attention and tools. Very exciting things happen when a team of crazies, passionate professionals get together and work for a common goal. Adam and I decided to start writing readers. Betty and Adam absolutely love Juei-chuan's rap and think my idea for rapping Chinese classics is a great idea. SPS will be our first customer if we actually produce series of such learning material. Make lively the learning process. Ah, the energy!

A beginning

腾出时间来写，即使需要晚15分钟再上床．

今天在给Marissa写电子邮件时才顿悟＂月亮代表我的心＂的意思．99年在夏威夷上暑期教师培训班时，我发现这首歌是中文老师们的最爱．那一年夏天同在夏大研习的老师们十之八九都教她们的学生唱这首歌．那以后我也常唱．每次唱都会想＂月亮代表我的心＂是什么意思？月亮如何代表我的心？

给Marissa的邮件上的主题栏，我写下朋友．在写朋字的时候，我终于懂了．朋是两个月字组成的．两个月并排是朋友，朋友就是与你分享生活上的喜悦，欢笑，忧愁，痛苦，疑惑，秘密的人．朋友是你极想要穿有中国特色的衣服而没有时间到台湾或中国去买或去请裁缝帮你做衣服时，会为你去千挑万选，找让你穿起来会最漂亮的衣服的人．
